Green Church

Our Churches not only contain a vast amount of history, but also offer a wealth of wildlife in and around the surrounding graveyard areas. We are keen to support and maintain these natural areas, and protect and encourage the life which inhabits them. As part of this areas of the churchyard are designated as 'conservation areas.'
Useful Sites

At Spixworth, a number of display boards set around the Churchyard indicate
wildlife, and plants, which might be seen in certain areas.
We are currently developing a Churchyard conservation plan with the Norfolk
Wildlife Trust, and in 2006 St Peter's received a 'runner up' award in the
'Broadland Green Awards.'
In October 2006 we invited every member of the community to
plant a daffodil bulb in the churchyard in memory of a loved one.
This community project then led to the creation of our woodland
path, which was constructed using fallen trees and woodchips
from the Churchyard.

In May 2007 we held 'Creation Celebration,' a three day environmental event which inspired people to make a positive difference to the planet,
and to celebrate the God given gift of Creation. Over 500 people attended the event which encompassed a number of activities including a Flower Festival, Children's Activities, Environmental Display Tents, Woodland Walks, and
Worship Events.
  St Peter's
Conservation Group
meets on 1st Saturday
of every month.

the Rector.
As a Church community we want to care for the planet as best we can, and we are
currently developing our Environmental Policy. We are recognised as a Fairtrade
Church, using and promoting Fairtrade products, as well as those produced within
the local community.

Our Church and Churchyard area are regularly used by the local community, in particular schools who use the site as a 'mini' field study centre. For more information regarding this please contact the Rector.
